Paradise Valley

With a population of about 15,000 and covering a geographic area of 16.5 square miles, the town of Paradise Valley is zoned for one-acre lots with one house per lot. It showcases breathtaking views of the scenic Mummy and Camelback mountains. Mummy Mountain is protected by the Mummy Mountain Preserve Trust, which restricts any further development in order to protect the town’s natural geographic features. Camelback Mountain is a prominent landmark, offering what some consider to be the among the best views of the Valley.

Due to its independent nature, residents are responsible for contracting for fire protection, water service and solid waste removal. It is located about 9 miles northeast of downtown Phoenix.

With one of the most exclusive zip codes in the entire country, Paradise Valley is home to twelve resorts, including Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain, Montelucia, Camelback Inn, Hermosa InnRitz Carlton will join this list in 2011. Paradise Valley also has some of the best golf courses in the Phoenix area, including the private Paradise Valley Country Club and the semiprivate Stonecreek Golf Club.

The median home price in Paradise Valley is $1.74 million. Most are custom or semi-custom homes. Custom homes with moderate views start at about $1.5 million for 4,000 square feet; at this lower price range, they may require some updating. The top of this exclusive real estate market reaches beyond $15 million.
